Behind the Grind- Change up Mag

Ever get sick of hearing artists talk about how awesome it is to be caked up, sleeping with models, and generally living the dream? Welcome to Behind the Grind, a glimpse into the grind behind the artists who may not be tipping glasses with GaGa, but have the talent and motivation to rock the music industry.
Sabertooth Cavity is a self-described “marching noise rock band” out of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and this five piece knows how to write rock and roll like no other. It’s seriously its own breed of heavy riffing, pounding drums, thumping bass, and wild saxophone that’s guaranteed to make you stand up and rock out, even in it’s just in front of a mirror alone in your room.
The band’s most recent release, En Lak Ech (you are the other me), is truly something to lend your ears to. This record is twenty-seven minutes of the purest, loudest, fastest rock to be released in some time, and while it may knock you to the floor, you’ll want to spring back up for more of the goodness. The band creates an interesting hybrid that borrows from noise rock, fusion, classic metal, psych, and a million other rock and roll varieties to create a style that is both entirely accessible but at the same time just abrasive enough to have some real soul to it. They straddle the line very nicely, not going all metal on everyone so to speak, but maintaining a rock and roll genre balancing act that comes together very well. It really makes for some great “rock out so hard in your car that the people next to you stare in amazement” music.

The five man brigade writes songs with some lyrics, songs without any, and opuses that have both instrumental sections as well as a verse or two thrown in for good measure. It doesn’t matter though, because all of the music will cut straight to your soul until you can no longer resist the temptation to tap your foot, or more likely, wildly swing your limbs in all directions.
The band likes to call their music “cut up music” or “collage rock”, while they seemingly resent being labeled “progressive”. The reasoning behind this is sound, as their music is pieced together from many different styles and section thrown together making a cohesive finished work, maintaining its rock and roll voice throughout. Progressive rock on the other hand, while once revolutionary, has fallen into many of the same cliches that alternative or indie rock has, and this band are doing something all their own.
The only way to get your hands on the album at this point, is from their bandcamp page, as the limited run of records and tapes has sold out. Sabertooth Cavity is a band to look out for in the future, as they plan to continue touring and even release another LP in 2011, and with the high-quality of their music, they have a lot of fans that don’t know who they are yet.

NEW Sabertooth Cavity LP now available!!!

NEW!!!!
Sabertooth Cavity - En Lak Ech 12"LP (Sssk#52 co-released with Yesca label)

I've always been intrigued by this band: five guys who migrated from the Carlsbad Caverns to Albuquerque but never played together before. Overdriven cousin-guitars, a dented-sax, and a rhythm section so tight that it stretches.
The result is Jam, is in, jammed all up into one big spazzout.
Phenomenal live, still are the loudest boy-band in this desert.
Comes in a burlap sack so you can bury it.

Limited edition of 300. Includes digital download code.
$14.00 postage paid
